Fuel Local Investing
One study found that only 0.5% of all start-up funding went to LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, despite these individuals making up 7.1% of the population. Amplifying local investment opportunities for LGBTQ+ businesses and other efforts to invest in these entrepreneurs can help reverse this trend.
Boost Job Growth
The same study found that LGBTQ+ founders created 36% more jobs than the average founder. Increasing investments means growing more local jobs. Efforts to level the playing field for these founders need to be implemented.
Close the Wealth Gap
Data shows that LGBTQ+ adults have lower incomes and higher poverty rates (on average) than heterosexual adults. Let’s highlight the work being done to close this gap.
Grow Community Wealth
One economist demonstrated that the inclusion of LGBTQ+ people within the economy can increase a country’s GDP by 1% or more. Another study found a correlation between higher concentrations of LGBTQ+ people and higher rates of economic growth in US states.
